Hi Jennifer, We wanted to let you know that JoJo (Carson) is doing fantastic down here in Texas. He’s a great watch dog and family member. He sleeps in the hall and keeps track of all the activities that go on in the house. He loves dressing up and getting pictures taken – he’s such a good sport. He’ll do just about anything for a doggy treat. His favorite pastimes are going for a walk, playing in the baby pool, barking at the door bell and corralling the cat. He’s a handsome devil with great markings and everybody always comments on what an amazing looking dog he is. Here are some pictures of JoJo and his buddy Wayne.
Take care - Tim

Hi, Jennifer and Christi,
I finally did the preliminary x-rays of Gaby's hips, and they look great. (I guess I put it off in fear of the anesthetic they might use, but, believe it or not, they were able to get good pictures without sedation.) I'll probably be sending them off to OFA this week. Her work is going extremely well. We are currently doing service dog training and serve as an "outreach ambassador," of sorts, with the American Service Dog Association. There's much left to learn, of course, but her temperament is well suited for this. We've been training in an area mall, nursing homes, and even Olive Garden. She goes with me everywhere, and performs beautifully -- even in crowded department stores. By no means do I think I'm some "master trainer"! It's Gaby -- She learns quickly and well and seems to love her role. This weekend I started her on those door buttons for the wheel chair bound to use, and I honestly think she'll have the skill in just a couple more sessions........

Panzer is doing great. He gets along great with everyone. I invited a friend of mine over last night so his two year old and six year old could see him, and he was perfect. We are trying to get him used to as many new experiences as possible. My son and Panzer are bonding wonderfully. I don't know if Lori will see you at any dog events in the future, but if you guys did, that would be cool!

Meesha has turned in to a great dog. She is extremely smart and has an incredible personality. She only has a couple of issues. When she gets on the bed at night, she stretches out and will not move. Tony and I have to fold ourselves around her. During the day, she will not give up, but when she gets on the bed at night she is out like a light. She also loves to get in vehicles. I sent a couple of pictures of her in the car and motor home. She thinks that the only reason we have them is to take her on an outing. She cant wait to go to "Grandmas" house because there she can do no wrong. She also like to pester my brothers cat. Puppy class is going well, although she stretches out and falls asleep. The other dogs are barking and making a ruckus and she will lift her head every once in a while and stare them into being quiet. She is learning alot and we are thinking about putting her into the agility class. Her favorite thing besides sleeping in the bed is going outside with the Akita and seeing who can bring in the most mud on their feet. I cannot wait for summer. When she gets tired outside she "knocks" on the front door and comes in and takes a nap to recharge her batteries.
I just want to thank you for her. She is such a great addition to our home. Some of the things she does brings tears to Tony and my eyes because she reminds us so much of Kia. Then in the next moment she does something that is only from her. Hope you like the pictures.

Hi Jennifer:
Rainy and I found a person who would test her for her CGC - of course, she passed it with 'flying colors'.
I was concerned that you would think I was not doing anything with her but it has been difficult to find some one to test her. Rainy would like you to tell her mother (Fuga) that she is doing well, very happy, has a wonderful dog friend and a loving home. Everyone tells me (Rainy) that I am beautiful - and I tell them Thank You, I look just like my mother!
I took her to the nursing home to see my sister (she was in a bad car accident several years ago [had bleeding on the brain] - she now has a related dementia). She is losing her ability to communicate. Rainy was very good. She visited with several of the residents and delighted my sister when we walked into her room. My brother-in-law said that after we left my sister talked more than she had in quite a few months. It is certainly one of God's blessings in what an affect animals have on us humans. My brother-in-law asked me to bring Rainy along the next time I come to visit!
Rainy just finished a Rally obedience class and this week we are going to start an off-leash class. Hoping all is well with you and yours.

I hope all is well with you and your family. Panzer is doing great. He won first place in one of his puppy classes by doing "sit and down" more times than any other dog. He was allowed to pick out his own toy from the toy box, and he picked out another ball to play with. He is such a wonderful dog... He really is a great dog. You can see in his eyes that he really is trying to please us and do what we ask. He is very focused on all of us in the family. My son is the one that is taking him to his puppy classes on Mondays, so they are bonding even more.

She and Bacchus are getting on great, no fighting. She shows respect -

Hi Jennifer,
I just wanted to let you know that everything is going really well with Rosy. She is really an easy going pup, that is ready to do anything, whether it be playing outside, going for a walk, or just watching TV. I really expected her to be a handful, but so far she seems really in tune with what she is supposed to do. Thanks again for getting me this amazing puppy!! She's always a big hit with
anyone she meets, people and dogs alike. We have been working on somebasic come, sit, down commands, which has been a lot of fun. She took to her crate very well, and is really good about housetraining. As soon as she is fully vaccinated, we are going to start some formal
obedience training in Ankeny. The one down side of getting her is that I'm getting the feeling my mom would rather see her than me.

Hi Jennifer,
I hope all is well with you guys with all of the bad weather we have been having. I just wanted to let you know that Panzer does have what we were looking for when we wanted to add him to our family. A few days ago, Panzer got us up early in the morning by barking and just acting different than usual. My wife got up with him and took him outside, and that is when she noticed several teenagers hanging around outside of our house in the street. When Panzer showed up and let them know he knew they were there, it wasn't long before they left our street and moved along. I do not know for sure if they were up to no good, but Omaha has been having a lot of break-ins recently, and it is nice to know that Panzer is on our side.
While that story is impressive, it was just a warm-up for last night. We were up watching the news report on the weather that was developing in our area. We stayed up until midnight when they said we would likely only get some rain overnight, with most of the severe weather moving over into Iowa. At about 2:45 A.M. my wife heard Panzer barking and she knew she should get up and see what was going on outside. When she was walking through the house she heard what she thought was a car alarm going off. After a few seconds, she realized that it was the tornado sirens that were going off. She turned on the TV and saw that we were in a tornado warning in Omaha. She woke up our son and got everyone down in the basement. She called her sister, who lives just down the street from us, and they had not heard the sirens either. My sister-in-law then called some friends of theirs that were having a sleep over with my niece at their house to make sure they were watching the weather also, and they were also sleeping and had not heard the sirens.
Thankfully, we did not have a tornado touch down in our neighborhood this time, but thanks to Panzer, we were all as prepared as we could be at such a short notice. My son is planning to take him further in his puppy training classes this summer, now that he is off of school for the summer. It is nice to know that his life saving skills that we were hoping to train him for, he seems to have naturally in his genetics. He is a wonderful dog, and we love him very much. And since he is trying to alert us when there is danger around, he must care about us as well!
Thanks for such a great addition to our family.
Sincerely, Ron

Ivy and I have been accepted into Edu-Pup training. I hope to get my principal to sign off on letting us come into my school and having Ivy be a reading buddy to some at-risk readers. Hey Jennifer,
I just wanted to write to say we absolutely love our new puppy, and she is adjusting incredibly well to her new home. We have named her Lola, and she is just a jewel. She has already mastered the dog door on our garage and our shop, has gotten comfortable with her crate, and has even mastered walking on a lead. We started working on sit, stay, heel, and here the first day, and have worked on it 4 times every day since, and she is really soaking everything up just like a little sponge. We even went on a long walk today, and she did really well on the leash. House training is even going well. Today, she left the garage and went outside to go potty. Of course, we may be a little bias about all her talents. Everyone here is in love with her. I have included some pictures of her. Thanks so much for picking such an awesome addition to our family.
Thanks again, Michelle

Hello Jennifer!
I haven't spoken to you for a long while now - I hope you recieved the last pictures I sent of my big, lovely Caesar (pictured on the right).
We achieved our first Agility title last month, he is advancing quite quickly and everyone loves to watch him compete. The general consensus is that it is nice to see a functional German Shepherd, he is not just ridiculously good looking - he can jump too!

Hi Jennifer,
My son came up with the name "Rogue" (as in the X-Men movie) for our puppy and I have to say it just suited her - we all immediately liked it, and she responded to it quickly as well!
She's been a wonderful addition to our family - sweet, smart, a little naughty, and fun to watch as she's growing (so fast!!!). The transition from floppy ears to upright ears really has changed the way she looks, and those "in-between" days are so funny!
We'll be going to the vet again next week for another distemper booster and her rabies vaccine. She's doing great - healthy and, of course, gorgeous!
Thanks so much for placing her with us; I appreciate the time you took to get to know us and enjoyed meeting all of your dogs.

There was a graduation ceremony for the Edu-Pups teams that passed their probation period over the summer. As you can imagine, Ivy passed with flying colors. Everywhere we went, we heard things like "She was just born for this, wasn't she?" and "She just adjusts to any age and any situation." I truly think she is happiest with the kids, but she also does well at rest homes. And, my little social butterfly loves being with the other dogs as well. She has a few "boyfriends" in the group!

I hope you're well and that teaching is keeping you positively busy. I wanted to send you a few pictures of Charlie(formerly known as Erika) and let you know that this goober is growing fast and well. She is 35 bls now, loves to go for a walk with us and enjoys running around with me. Her obedience is going well, especially since I started her on tricks from day one. She sits, lies down, stays, comes, shakes, rolls over, pretends to be dead when I say "bang," jumps and even high-fives me when asked. We have had great progress with her in terms of house training with no accidents in almost three weeks. She reacts to words potty, food, water and kennel. All in all, things are fine and she is just as curious today as she was 2 months ago. She raised eyebrows in the obedience class for her intelligence and keeps being noticed in the street for her shiny coat, beautiful definition and for being an all round sweetheart. Anyway, we will try to keep you updates on how things are going, even though life is crazy busy for all of us these days. I hope you will enjoy the pictures.

Hello,
Sorry we're a little late on sending you this pictures. We have officially named our new puppy "Bear". However, he also goes by "Big Bear", "Big sweetie", "Fluffy" and "Fluffy Butt". We just adore him. He has been a lot of fun and is just the sweetest thing ever. He's famous for his "bear hugs". However, if you don't know they're coming, as big as he is, he can practically take you off of the couch! He's very personable. We take him to Tyler's baseball games and he's glad to see everyone and thinks that everyone is there to see him. He had a hard time keeping cool this summer, so we bought him a baby pool, and found out that he loves the water! He loves to play ball and to chase bubbles. If you need him to lay still, say to clip his nails, all you have to do is scratch his belly. :-)...
He sleeps with my son Tyler every night and he thinks that Tyler walks on water...
Thank you again for letting us take this awesome little guy home with us. We have enjoyed every day with him and look forward to seeing what lies ahead as he continues to grow/mature.

Congratulations - Julia and Caesar (Half x Maya) on their new agility title ADC, Agility Dog of Canada. The pair finished it in fine style with two first places, one third, and one fourth.
Docker is also a hit with all of my classmates at the vet school. He has come in for our "live dog quizzes" and had 20 peoples fingers stuck all around his face, his joints, inside his ears, and whatever other body parts we happen to be learning. He has also had an EKG and his blood pressure measured by students for our practice. Open house is coming up, and I signed him up for two booths. One is "The animal as an athlete", and he will run on a treadmill as an example of exercise physiology. The other booth is about the human animal bond and we will measure visitor's blood pressure and "brain waves" (its really measuring facial muscle movements) both before and after they interact with our pets. So, it should be a lot of fun! He's still super entertaining and a whole lot of fun. I hope everything is going well for you!

These pictures didn't turn out the greatest, but I really wanted to send something to show off my girl helping on the farm! We've got a group of sheep in a small pen right now and it has been an excellent way to practice some herding with Rogue. She's maturing more all the time and her control around our livestock is impressive considering her strong instinct to herd. She's very obedient, and as we've made a serious effort from day one to expose her to the livestock she doesn't get overly excited to be in the pens or buildings with our sheep or hogs.
Again, these pics aren't the best display of her talent, but as you look at them I hope you can see some indication of her temperament - When she enters the pen, the sheep are her buddies; she can easily approach and mingle. When we ask her to herd, she is very aggressive but not "mean" or over-anxious. She's doing a great job in learning to help us sort off a few sheep at a time, and should one or two stray from the herd when they're not supposed to she doesn't hesitate to round them up. It's great exercise for her and a huge help to us!!!
For being only 10 months old...Wow! We have such high hopes for her! (But yes, she does let us know once in a while that she is still a puppy - naughty but lovable!)
I'll try to get some nicer pictures this summer out in the pasture where her herding area is much larger.
Hope all is well with you,
Jennifer
